The Fractometer II
Measurement of the bending and compression strength
The Fractometer II is a mechanical measurement device that determines characteristic values of bending and compression strength of wood. The corresponding parameters are obtained by means of a core sample (diameter: 5 mm) that is taken from a wooden structure. In order to determine a characteristic strength value, the core sample must be inserted in the corresponding clamping device and then has to be aligned according to its fiber direction. To apply pressure to the core sample, the two lever arms have to be pushed slowly and continuously. The load has to be increased until the wooden core breaks. The Fractometer II measures the maximum strength that was applied. This force is equivalent to the failure load.
The measuring values are shown on a clock device, which can be easily read.
Can be supplied with or without aluminium carry case. please select from drop down bar when ordering.
