IML Products

IML produce the best microdrills on the market and Sorbus offer a comprehensive range to suit most budgets & applications. All microdrills are suitable for inspection of trees, utility poles and construction wood

MD300 low cost microdrill – For rapid inspection of trees & wood structures. Previous microdrills have relied on the power drill to spin the microdrill and drive it into the timber. However, the MD300 relies on the user to apply a light pushing force to drive the microdrill into the timber. The user can very easily ‘feel’ the change in penetration resistance as the microdrill enters an area of decay or a cavity. The MD300 does not record data but relies on the user to note the result.

Resi-FSX microdrill - This is an updated version of the popular Resi-F (which is still available) which incorporates many of the upgrades offered for the F-series plus some new features.

Resi-PD microdrill - The PD is the most advanced microdrill ever produced and IML have created this model using ALL the knowledge & experience they have gained over the years from ALL of their microdrill ranges – all the best features of previous microdrills have been built in to the PD plus some new innovative features as well.

The IML Fractometer is the only hand held device that is available to measure the physical properties of wood on site. The Fractometer I measures failure load & angle whereas the Fractometer 2 measures properties under compression as well.
The IML Fractometer requires an increment core sample to carry out the test. We can offer a range of Increment Borers (from 100mm to 800mm core lengths).

Based on the original concept of the IML Electronic Hammer for sound velocity measurement (developed by Prof Dr Claus Mattheck), the all new Micro Hammer has embraced modern hardware & software technology to provide a compact, rugged, reliable and cost effective method for decay detection & evaluation in trees and other wood based structures.

Sorbus also supply other IML products developed in collaboration with Claus Mattheck including Steel Probes, Penetrometer, Height Measurement Tool & the complete range of Mattheck books
